The countdown to the Hillingdon Finals has begun in earnest with many of the competitions reaching the last four.

In the ladies singles Joyce Purvey of Uxbridge plays Rosedale's Sue Pocknell while Joyce Hearns of Hayes faces Fassnidge's Christine Phair, with both matches played on neutral greens.

Sheila Connor takes on Sue Lawes at Rosedale in the ladies pairs semi-finals and Pocknell takes on Karen Rushton.

The final four in the triples are already known as Connor's Hayes trio takes on

Joyce O'Connor of Cowley and Lyn Ive's Rosedale triple come up against Barb Wilkinson's Swakeleys team.

In the overall open singles Attilio Ciampini awaits news of the Douglas/Woods quarter-final and in the other semi-final Dennis Hodgkins will take on Tony Waller.

The mixed pairs continues to have a classy look about it with Peter and Rita Crouch taking on Jean Clements and Bob White in one semi-final while in the other, Peter and Pat Huggett come up against Nigel and Karen Rushton.

Fassnidge dominate the bottom half of the mixed triples draw where Mandy Simpson and Geoff Roberts face each other in the last four, while the Uxbridge trio of Willie Woods plays the Barbara Wilkinson team from Swakeleys.

The men's singles see Uxbridge's Ron Le Leux and Chris Harris taking each other on and Ciampini facing Ernie Norris in the quarters. Peter Crowner of Hayes beat Mick Kirby and now plays Tony Waller (Ladygate) in the semis following his defeat of Alan Hooper.

An all Ladygate quarter-final saw Alec Groves get the better of Keith Ford in the pairs and he awaits news of the Uxbridge/Denham last eight clash. Deane Park's Len Glynn takes on Brian Putnam of Hayes in their semi.

In the triples semi-finals the Paul Darius skipped Mill trio awaits Rosedale or Denham and John Heath's Cowley play Deane Park.

Mick Kirby, Derek Cutmore, Jim Langley and Terry Perry make up the last four in the Over-60s.

The finals take place at Rosedale Park on Monday, August 25.
