BRAZILIAN forward Taison has emerged as a January transfer target for Chelsea.

The 24-year-old Metalist Kharkiv striker was tracked by the club in the summer as they pursued big-money moves for Edison Cavani and Taison’s Brazilian compatriot Hulk.

Another summer target, Radamel Falcao, remains on Roman Abramovich’s radar but Atletico Madrid but would demand upwards of £40million for the Colombian superstar.

Fernando Torres was touted as a makeweight in a possible deal for Falcao but the arrival of Rafael Benitez as interim boss has made that move less likely.

Instead, Globo Esporte reports that the Blues have decided to renew their interest in Taison who has been in London this week after being given permission by his club to travel to England.

Metalist, based in the Ukraine, will play their, take a three-month winter break between December and March and will play their last match before the hiatus next Thursday.

Taison enjoys a close friendship with Chelsea new-boy Oscar from their time together at Internacional and would take the Blues’ total number of Samba stars to five following the previous captures of David Luiz, Ramires and Lucas Piazon and Oscar.
