ROBERTO Di Matteo respects Roman Abramovich’s power to dismiss him if he feels changes are needed at the Chelsea helm this summer.

Di Matteo has impressed since taking over as interim boss following the dismissal of Andre Villas-Boas earlier this month.

The fans’ favourite has guided the Blues to four wins on the spin, including an incredible turnaround against Napoli in the Champions League.

But despite a promising start to his spell in charge, Di Matteo believes the Chelsea owner will take the correct decision for the future of the club during the close-season.

He said: “I am quite happy with my position at the moment. The club will make whatever decision they think is right for the future of the club - that is absolutely right for them.

"I am just trying to train these boys, communicate with these boys, and get the points we need in the Premier League.”

Chelsea travel to title-chasing Manchester City tomorrow night looking to boost their chances are clinching a top-four spot and Champions League football for next term.

He added: “We are in good shape and good spirit. I think that’s what matters most - we are going to Manchester in good form. A confident team can be the difference between now and the end of the season.

“I think we just have to focus on games and hope we will be where we want to be at the end of the season. Fourth place is what is important to us. If we can get third place, even better.”
