ANDRE Villas-Boas insists he has the total backing of Roman Abramovich in spite of the club's troubling lack of form – and claims the players remain united.

The pressure is mounting on the Chelsea boss after a run of four defeats in seven matches, with speculation already mounting that his position could be under threat.

“Yes, I have spoken to him,” Villas-Boas said of the owner.

“Everyone wants to get out of a situation like this. There's nothing unique when you go into a run of bad results, but he is happy to give me time.

“There's been a lot of meetings [with the players]. They had good focus and concentration on what we want to achieve – no problems to the extent that it's played out in the press.

“They have not been critical meetings, or ones with animosity or insults here and there. There's been no critique or doubts whatsoever about what we are doing.”

The Blues boss added: “The meetings won't be the decisive key. I think that is transferring what we do in training onto the pitch.

“Self confidence and belief is what we need now and everybody wants to get it and that only comes with wins. They can be just around the corner. Every game gives you an opportunity to get back on track.

“We are in the back pages of every newspaper, but it's something that doesn't disturb me whatsoever. It's not about me as an individual, it's about my group of players and the hard work is being put in to reverse the situation.”
