HARRY Forrester insists he's fit and raring to go heading into Brentford's festive fixtures.

The former Aston Villa midfielder has endured a nightmare beginning to his Bees career, making just one start all season due to a hamstring injury.

However, the 20-year-old, who snubbed a move to Ajax to come to TW8, is back in full training and closing in on a return to the first-team fold.

Forrester made his comeback in a development game at West Ham earlier this month, and stepped up his recovery with 90 minutes against Brighton in a behind-closed-doors friendly on Tuesday afternoon.

And he insists his injury worries are behind him and he's ready to make his mark at Griffin Park .

He said: “It's taken longer than expected because the injury was a weird one. I was having problems with my glutes, back and hips, but when it went to my hamstring I couldn't continue.

“It's frustrating. I was doing okay before my injury and was due to start in the JPT game against Charlton in October, but then I had a setback the Monday before the game.

“However, hopefully we've managed to nip it in the bud now. I've been back in training for a few weeks and I'm not having any reaction to the injury so it's a case of so far so good.”

Forrester admits his start to life in west London has been frustrating, spending most of his time on the treatment table.

But the youngster, who signed a two-year deal with the Bees, hopes he can play a part in the games against Bournemouth, MK Dons and Charlton.

He added: “I would've liked to play more, but things have happened that have prevented me from doing so. Fingers crossed I'm over the worst of it now, so hopefully I can show everyone what I can do.

“The games are coming thick and fast now, and it's just a case of building up my fitness and taking my chance when I get it.”
