KEVIN O'Connor faces a lengthy lay-off after twisting his ankle in today's FA Cup first round win over Basingstoke.

The Brentford club captain was stretchered off with his right leg in a support just before half-time in the 1-0 victory.

Bees boss Uwe Rosler said: “We are expecting a long lay off. When a player like Kevin does not get up straight away, you know it is not good.

“He's jumped up, come back down, and something has happened to make him twist his ankle.”

After O'Connor departed, Brentford's midfield looked disjointed, leading to a pedestrian second half performance.

But Rosler added: “We should be capable of losing Kevin and still playing our game. With the ambitions we have and the squad we have, we must do better to overcome things like that.”
