BRENTFORD crashed out of the Capital One Cup in emphatic style with a five goal hammering at Championship side Derby County this evening.

However, while Derby fielded a strong side, Bees boss Uwe Rosler made 10 changes from the side which beat Walsall 1-0 on Saturday, Scott Barron (pictured) being the only survivor, and handed Josh Clarke and Alfie Mawson full debuts.

Brentford had an early let off when Ben Nugent's clearance cannoned back off Conor Sammon and over, before a Jake Reeves effort from edge of area curls just over the upright at the other end.

There was an even bigger escape for Brentford on 17 minutes when Chris Martin was brought down in the box by Kevin O'Connor, but despite protests from Derby players, the referee gave a free-kick given rather than a penalty.

The reprieve was only temporary, however, as a minute later, Martin got his revenge by getting the final touch to a cross from the left which Jack Bonham tried and failed to get a hand to.

Soon after, Craig Bryson hit the post with an effort from the edge of the box after Adam Smith lay it back, while O'Connor hooked off the line from Sammon as the Derby man looked to find the far corner from the right hand side of the area.

Sammon then beat Bonham to a Craig Forsyth cross but headed wide, but the Derby man was not to be denied and Sammon played a delightful one-two with Bryson before finishing under Bonham with aplomb on 36 minutes.

Just two minutes later, Will Hughes blasted one in from the edge of the area after Smith's cross was allowed to pass right across the edge of the area unchallenged.

It should have been 4-0 minutes before the break when, with Brentford in disarray, Nugent's attempted clearance deflected straight to Martin, whose shot bounced to safety off the far post.

The Bees nearly pulled one back after the break when Sam Saunders' free kick was palmed away by Lee Grant, the loose ball scrambled away from half time sub Aaron Pierre, before Reeves blasted over on the volley from pretty much on the penalty spot.

Derby weren't finished, however, with Martin flicking just wide from Smith's cross, but when Bryson failed to score from two bites of the cherry, O'Connor clearing his first effort off the line, Sammon was there to gobble up the second rebound with 20 minutes left.

Seven minutes later it was 5-0 when Martin was given the time and space to rifle home from 20 yards out, and the final whistle, when it came, while in injury time, sub Luke Norris was denied a consolation by Grant.
