UWE Rosler will rotate the captain's armband during pre-season in a bid to decide Brentford's new skipper.

Kevin O'Connor led the Bees for most of last season, while Gary Alexander, Karleigh Osborne, Craig Woodman and Marcus Bean have been handed the role in his absence.

Rosler has also added Marcus Eger and Jonathan Douglas to the squad, who have worn the armband during their time at St Pauli and Swindon Town respectively.

But the new Brentford boss will give his candidates the chance to stake a claim before the season gets underway next month.

He said: "I will try different captains during the pre-season games to see what response they get and then I will make a decision before the start of the season.

" Kevin O'Connor is a very good professional, the way he trains and conducts himself.

"We have good dialogue and he's a strong candidate."
