Middlesex Cup

Brent U11s 4

Harrow U11s 1

Brent U11s edged a step closer to making it a hat-trick of Middlesex Cup triumphs by sweeping aside Harrow thanks to two goals and a man of the match performance from debutant Sam Langan.

Having suffered a surprise defeat last time out Brent recovered well, and only Barnet stand in their way in the competition’s final match if Brent are to cap off their excellent season with the Middlesex crown.

Langan didn’t take long to make his mark, collecting the ball 25 yards from goal and marauding forward before crashing a shot off the underside of the bar to put his new side in the ascendency.

The new man doubled his tally early in the second half to give Brent some breathing space, but the home side’s nerves were jangled soon afterwards when goalkeeper Pierce Peyton was beaten by a fierce drive that slithered through his grasp.

Brent restored their two-goal lead when Joshua Uwaifo burst from midfield and lashed a finish into the corner, before Jonathan Rowe despatched a late penalty to stamp his side’s dominance on the score line.

Benet Hashani and Junior Mawonso each gave masterful performances as Brent moved to within a victory of cup glory, but it was Langan who stole the show with a stellar two-goal display.

Also involved for Brent were Anish Sharma, Jahmar Patterson, Kieron Lake-Bryan, Rio Whilby, Reiss Lewin, Amaan Pandor and Louie Setoudah.
