Hayes super-flyweight Ramesh Ahmadi is targeting some big names.

Ahmadi looks to make it six straight wins at the York Hall in Bethnal Green on Saturday, April 16.

He was matched with Jason Booth, the Nottingham veteran who's won British titles at two weights and challenged for world honours in his 53-fight career.

Booth last week pulled out of the fight - and manager Mo Prior was looking to set up a match with Prince Patel.

The outspoken Acton showman is one of the most talked about talents in British boxing - and while coach Lee Buckingham admits the fight may not happen this month, it could go ahead soon.

Buckingham said: "At the lighter weights, you can only box so many journeymen before you step up.

"Ramesh has shown that he's ready to step up and that's why we were taking the Jason Booth fight.

"We know Jason is still a quality fighter, but we were really confident.

"I was 100 per cent sure Ramesh was going to win the fight and that would have opened up a lot of doors for him.

"It's a shame the fight didn't happen, but it shows the level we think Ramesh is at and how much belief we have in him.

"Ramesh has looked very good in sparring, he's upped his training and he's ready to take the next step."

The top-of-the-bill fight on the show, billed as 'No Quarter Asked, No Quarter Given,' is a clash between knock-out artist Arthur Hermann and unbeaten Asinia Byfield.

Tickets for the show at the York Hall in Bethnal Green are available from 07917-416573.
