Hammersmith's Georgie Groves enters stage two of his pro-career at York Hall on Sunday hoping he doesn't knock Romaric Hignard out.

Yup-you read that right.

The exercise for a fighter is usually to make the other bloke read the logo on your laces asap.

But rather than obliterate his French foe - Groves is more intent on learning his craft.

The current ABA champion was delighted to fight a full six rounds in his debut pro-outing in November, which was more a systematic battering than an explosive one, and is looking to apply the same treatment to the man from Rennes.

"I'm not gong to go out there swinging to blast him away in 30 seconds," Groves said.

"That's not what we're trying to do and you don't learn when you're in a rush - you'll only get found out."

"There's a difference between actually believing in your ability and just saying you're going to be the champ - and you can't learn it all on one fight."

Lignard comes into the bout off the back of five defeats, but the 32-year-old journeyman, who's rarely fought outside his home country has only been stopped once in a 15-fight career.
