It was almost a perfect week for Ashford, as they emerged with three wins and a draw from their four games.

The men got it underway last Monday with a 49-36 win over Bishop Duppas in the first round of the National Club 2 Fours Competition.

They won the first rink comfortably 28-14 after leading from start to finish, then squandered a good lead in the second to lose 22-21, but it was still enough for victory.

Two days later, they drew 57-57 with Staines having won one triple, lost two and drawn one in a game which was close all the way through. T. Stroude, D. Ayton Snr and R. Searle top-scored 16-13 for Ashford, showing just how tight it was.

The women joined in for a six-rink mixed match against Desborough on Saturday, which Ashford won late on after the scores were level following 18 ends. A. Blair, W. Cox, C.Stedman and M. Delaney top-scored with 33-14 as Ashford triumphed 111-101.

Another mixed match the following day saw Ashford beat neighbours Sunbury convincingly 109-84, with top honours going to J. Wilson, S. Wilson, C.Staples and W. Moody's 30-12 rink win.
