Ashford's men relinquished the Richmond, Barnes & District League title they won last year after losing their final game at Teddington on Saturday.Despite a rink-win of 25-13 by R Searle, D Cliff, O Higson and D Ayton, Ashford only gained oneand-a-half points to Teddington's two-and-a-half. However, the ladies gained revenge with a narrow victory over Teddinton's ladies, winning 32-31 thanks to A Anderson, M Fullicks and J Goulds' 19-14 rink-win.
Earlier in the week, Ashford romped to a 65-46 mixed match win over Meadhurst after winning three out of five triples, including a 25-5 rink-win for A Tanner, N Evans and H Anderson. Meanwhile, Ashford's Club Finals Day on Sunday saw B Duckworth crowned king of the men and J Webber top lady, with O Higson and J Goulds runners-up respectively.
K Woodhead and S Woodhead won the men's and ladies' handicaps, with A Tanner and M Bushnell runners-up, while K Woodhead also landed the two wood prize, beating D Ayton.
M Law won the ladies two wood, with J Webber settling for runner-up this time, while D Coleman beat C Tanner to the Atkinson two wood title.
The Victoria Cup, Blair Shield and Jubilee Plate went to D Cliff, C Staples and R Searle, with S Wilson, A Reason and M Delaney settling for second.
D Cliff was a winner in the Hudson Pairs too, teaming up with A Tanner to see off R Abear and A Reason. C Daines and M Bushnell beat N Evans and J Goulds in the ladies pairs, while M Bushnell triumphed again in the mixed pairs, teaming up with W Cox to overcome A Anderson and A Tanner.
Finally, A Anderson, I Ford and J Gammon were victorious over A Blair, D Coleman and C Staples in the Veit triples.
