Chelsea were said to be 'disgusted' last night after Aston Villa fans booed Blues captain John Terry as he was carried off the pitch with an ankle injury.
Terry, making a rare start for Blues in the 1-2 win at Villa Park, was floored by a twisted ankle which ended his day, and put in question the rest of his season at Chelsea.
There were chants of 'let him die' as he lay on the pitch, clearly in pain.
Villa fans' unhappiness with Terry seemed to originate in an incident where he was the victim of a high kick from Christian Benteke – which saw the Villa man sent off.
The abuse for Terry was particularly out of place on a day in which Chelsea fans had stood to applaud former Villa captain Stilyan Petrov – forced to retire from the game following treatment for leukaemia.
Terry left Villa Park on crutches, with his ankle heavily strapped. He is expected to find out in the next 24 hours whether or not he will be fit to face Benfica in Wednesday night's Europa League final.
