BEAMING Brentford boss Uwe Rosler insists his side silenced their Southend critics after victory in their FA Cup third round replay set up a mouthwatering clash with holders Chelsea.

Clayton Donaldson's second-half strike earned a 2-1 win against the League Two Shrimpers - and a money-spinning televised tie with the European champions in round four.

Rosler accused some Southend players of disrespecting his squad after the 2-2 draw at Roots Hall earlier this month.

But the Bees let their football do the talking on the pitch with a dominant display to send their lowly opponents packing.

He said: “My players were extra fired up after comments from one or two of their players after the first game.

“They boys played to their potential and I think you could see the difference between Southend and Brentford.

“We dominated the game and wanted to make sure there was only going to be one winner.

“We never stopped working hard, passing the ball and creating chances. We played to our strengths and made it difficult for them to get the ball.

“But I have to give big respect to their goalkeeper [Paul Smith], who had a fantastic game. Some of his saves were unbelievable.”
