BRENTFORD have failed in their bid to take Norwich City striker Aaron Wilbraham on loan.

The Chronicle revealed on Tuesday that the Bees were interested in bringing the former MK Dons frontman to Griffin Park after the shock departure of Gary Alexander to Crawley Town last week.

However, Canaries boss Paul Lambert has snubbed Brentford's approach as the 32-year-old is in and around the first-team squad at Carrow Road.

He said: "The number of teams that have phoned to take him on loan has been incredible.

"We've been inundated with people wanting him and I can understand why.

"For someone in their early 30s he's been brilliant for us, not just on the pitch but off it.”
