ZOE Beaulieu admits she can barely believe she swam her way to two medals at the Balfour Beatty London Youth Games on Saturday, writes Jamie Holt.

It was third time lucky for the 13-year-old who won gold in the 50m breaststroke in a personal best 36.07secs, and helped the 4x50m medley relay team to bronze at Crystal Palace.

It was good enough to help Hammersmith & Fulham girls finish 23rd overall, but for the Latymer Upper School pupil it marked a significant improvement on last year.

Beaulieu, a member of Brompton Swimming Club, came 10th in the 2012 50m breaststroke, and admitted any sort of medal would have been a bonus.

She said: “I was hoping for a bronze this year and it was my third time at the London Youth Games, so I love coming and I love competing for the borough.”

Beaulieu was not the only one celebrating H&F success.

Both the girls cricket team and the boys disability football team secured gold at Europe’s largest annual youth sports event.

It was good enough to help the borough to a Jubilee Trophy standing of 28th, an improvement of one from 2012 against London boroughs with far bigger school populations.
