NATIONAL DIVISION THREE - SOUTH WESTMINSTER WARRIORS versus Westfied Watford Storm (match abandoned)

It was only two minutes to the vital tip-off set to decide the National Three (South) title on Sunday.

Current leaders Westminster Warriors were warmed up and ready to take on their nearest challengers Westfield Watford Storm in Herts.

But as Warriors coach Junior Williams was putting his troops through their final paces, there was an almighty crash at the other end of the court.

Williams and Warriors stared in horror as the glass backboard shattered into a thousand pieces after a Watford player had got a little too enthusiastic with his dunking practice.

Williams joked: "Maybe they didn't fancy it, although I also believe the glass backboard isn't allowed under the rules, But without a stable hoop there was nothing the referees could do but abandon the game."

However, Warriors won't have to wait more than two weeks before they get another go at facing the side currently second and two points behind. Westminster's home match against Westfield is at the Moberly Centre is on Saturday, February 7.
