FORMER Football Association chief executive Brian Barwick has joined Hampton and Richmond Borough's board of directors.

Barwick, who lives in the Hampton area, held the FA's top post for three years from 2005-2008.

He has also had spells as head of sport at the BBC and controller of sport at ITV, so brings vast experience to the Blue Square South side.

Barwick said: "I am delighted to join the board at Hampton and Richmond and hope for a long and successful association with the club.

"I have enjoyed watching them play over the past few seasons and having lived in the area for nearly 30 years, I hope I can help the club continue its progress on and off the field.

"I think the club is a real part of the community, and as attendances proved towards the end of the season, plenty of people share my view.

"On the field, the work Alan Devonshire has put in is really paying dividends, while under the chairmanship of Steve McPherson, the club has a positive future, and I look forward to playing my part."
