Former British number one Elena Baltacha returned to Harrow Weald Lawn Tennis Club last weekend to help coach the tennis stars of the future.

The 25-year-old spent several hours joining in with the club's regular Saturday morning junior coaching sessions, where she passed on tips to the youngsters. Later she joined its Elite Squad, the advanced academy children, playing some friendly tie-break matches.

It was the Enfield-based star's second visit to the College Road club [2014] she marked the official opening of its new hard court for the juniors two years ago and was awarded patronage.

"Elena is really friendly and she enjoyed herself," said club treasurer Tony Osborne of the current British number three. "The kids really enjoyed it and we feel that her appearance will really help to inspire them to improve their tennis. I think Elena was suitably impressed with our young players and it was good of her to come back to the club."

And it should not be long before Baltacha puts in another appearance there - she left her jacket and scarf behind.

"She sent a text to say that she would pick it up next time she visits, so we hope to see her again," added Osborne.
