HARROW high jumper Marilyn-Leona Nwawulor admitted her Aviva English Schools Track and Field Championship campaign had been a case of job well done after walking away from Sheffield with silver.

The 16-year-old had arrived at the Don Valley Stadium targeting gold but had to settle for the second step on the podium in the intermediate girls event as Isobel Pooley of Hampshire bettered her jump of 1.71m by 3cm.

Nwawulor - who attends Sacred Heart High School - did do enough to secure her place in the England squad for next weekend's SIAB Track and Field International in Antrim, Northern Ireland with the top two from each event facing off against the best athletes from the other home nations.

And while the Harrow AC member admitted qualifying for the international in Northern Ireland was a case of job done - she conceded her jumping hadn't been as good as she had hoped it would be.

"It was okay but I didn't really jump as I wanted to because I wanted to get 1.77 or 1.80 - and I didn't get it," she said.

"My preparation was good and my run-up was good so I just don't know what went wrong really, I just didn't jump as I wanted to.

"The top two go to an International in Northern Ireland though and really my plan was just to come here and get in that and I have done that so I have to be happy.

"I am looking forward to that now - when I came to the English Schools the goal was to get into the team for Antrim and I have done that so, even though I didn't jump as well as I wanted, I am quite happy.

"There is still quite a lot left to happen for me this year with next weekend in Ireland and then the AAAs in August.

"I have just got to keep on training now and try and do well for the rest of the season." [25cf] The Aviva English Schools Track and Field Championships is part of Aviva's commitment to giving every child in the UK the opportunity to get involved in athletics by 2012.
