Andy Murray has vowed to savour the moment this time round after winning his second Wimbledon title.

The British No 1 cruised to a straight-sets victory over Milos Raonic to get his hands on the famous trophy once again.

He first lifted the title in 2013 but, such was the weight of expectation on him, Murray’s reaction was one of relief rather than sheer joy.

But now he has taken his place in the spotlight for a second time, the Brit says he will be soaking up the limelight and taking in every moment.

Murray said: “It’s the most important tournament for me every year. I’m proud to get my hands on the trophy again.

“I played really good stuff today but Milos has had some unbelievable wins. His win over Roger in the semis was a great match and he’s one of the hardest workers out there.

“A big thank you to all of my team for helping me to get here. A big thank you to all of my family as well who are watching up there.

“Last time I was so relieved and I didn't’ really get the chance to enjoy it so much, so I’ll make sure I enjoy this one tonight.”

Raonic was making his first appearance in a Grand Slam final at Wimbledon and his time will surely come after a strong showing throughout the fortnight.

But the gulf in class was obvious here as Murray made the most of his first chance to win a major without having to face either Novak Djokovic or Roger Federer.

Raonic added: “It’s a difficult challenge and he deserves to be winning here for a second time. Congratulations to Andy.

“This one is going to sting so I’m going to make sure, as sure as these courts are green, that I’ll be back here again.

“It’s been a phenomenal two weeks and just before that at Queen’s. I’ll keep working hard to be back here.

“Thank you to my team that who are here and those that aren’t. I love them all very much. There’s nothing I want more than to be back here.”

Reunited with coach Ivan Lendl for the tournament, who he worked with three years ago to similar effect, Murray can now look ahead to the US Open with confidence.
