The glitz and glamour of the NFL returns to a sold-out Wembley Stadium for one night only on Sunday as the New Orleans Saints clash with the San Diego Chargers (5pm kick off).

Following last year's success - which saw the New York Giants record a 13-10 win over the Miami Dolphins in the first competitive NFL game outside the Americas - tens of thousands of fans will descend on Wembley to savour what is expected to be a riproaring occasion.

However, if any gloss can be taken off the event it is the loss of Reggie Bush, the Saint's running back with a big reputation and fine pedigree. He injured his left knee in his side's 30-7 defeat to Carolina.

Another big NFL name, the Chargers' own running back LaDainian Tomlinson, hopes to shrug off a toe problem.

Both sides have won three games and lost four so far this season, with the Saints propping up the NFC South division and the Chargers sitting in second in the weaker AFC West.

And, compared with last year's muddy conditions and driving rain, Sunday's clash should make for a more entertaining, open affair, with weather forecasters predicting just a 20 per cent chance of rain.

While both franchises will boost their profiles with their London bows, they have some way to go to catch the Dallas Cowboys.

The Saints and the Chargers are worth an estimated US$854 and $826million respectively, dwarfed by the $1.5 billion price tag attached to the Cowboys' ten gallon hat.
