Beata Fabinska will be looking to get her teeth into Harefield’s Sharks Canoe Club.
Fabinska is a former Polish national champion and will lead the club’s coaching staff following her appointment this month.
The Sharks are hoping to be Britain’s number one for participation and competitiveness and believe the new coach is a step in the right direction.
Speaking after her first sessions, Fabinska said: “Kayaking is very serious in Poland and it is my life, so to be able to come and work for a club that has such ambition is wonderful. There is a lot of talent here and I am sure we can build the greatest club and have lots of fun along the way.”
The Sharks are ranked one of the best wild water racing clubs in Britain and have several nationally-ranked slalom paddlers and are now working to establish a sprint and marathon team.
This year they will launch a canoe polo team at Hillingdon Leisure Centre.
Training sessions are held at Harefield on Mondays and Thursdays and at the outdoor pool at Hillingdon Leisure Centre on Tuesdays.
After Easter they will be adding sessions at Osterley Park and Hayes. The club is establishing after-school clubs at Harefield and Uxbridge and want as many people to join in as possible.
Sharks supply all the kit members need at whatever level they are paddling at. For more information about The Sharks, visit www.thesharks.org.uk or email ca email@example.com or call Neal on 07952 770241.
