AFC Hayes 4 Andover 1

AFC HAYES got back to winning ways in the league with a convincing victory over Andover on Saturday.

Trevor Charlery opened the scoring after 16 minutes when he rounded the keeper and calmly slotted the ball into an unguarded net.

It was Brook who had the clearer chances of the half and could have easily extended their lead through Victor Osobu, Dean Papali and Charlery.

In the second half the hosts were unlucky not to be awarded a penalty when Papali's goal-bound strike appeared to be stopped with an outstretched hand. Hayes were hit by a sucker punch when Kyle Swayne curled a 15-yard shot into the corner to level the scores. However, it wasn't long before the home side restored their lead.

Osobu and Papali were both denied by the impressive away keeper before Jay Periera was released down the right and tucked the ball into the bottom left-hand corner on the hour mark.

It was now one-way traffic and Hayes extended their lead eight minutes later when Papali rounded the keeper to score.

The game should have been well beyond Andover as Osobu rounded the keeper only to lose his footing, which took him too wide and allowed an Andover defender time to clear.

But Kevin Chakaodza ended the contest a minute from time, scoring into an empty net.
