Andy Murray got off to a good start at the Aegon Championships with a comfortable win over Paul-Henri Mathieu.

New coach Amelie Mauresmo watched from the sides as the 2013 Queen's champion broke the Frenchman in the very first game and never looked back as he came through 6-4, 6-4 to book a place in round three.

Murray, who is bidding for a fourth title in W14, faces Radek Stepanek for a place in the quarter-finals after his straight-sets win over Bernard Tomic.

Elsewhere, top seed Stan Wawrinka was given an easy passage into the last 16 after Marcos Baghdatis required early on through injury.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga edged a tight first set before cruising through the second to beat world no. 105 David Goffin 7-5,6-2.

However, former champion Leyton Hewitt failed to make it past Feliciano Lopez, losing to the Spaniard 6-3, 6-4.
