HARROW Athletic Club's ultra-distance star Chris Finill produced a magnificent display of endurance to win the Road Runners Club 24-hour race at Tooting Bec last weekend, writes Tony Bush.

The 49-year-old ran a superb 151 miles, 246 yards in this daunting event, which began at noon on Saturday and ended the same time on Sunday.

This amazing performance was nine miles further than his previous best for a 24-hour race and gains him automatic selection for the Commonwealth Games ultra-distance event in Keswick next year.

Meanwhile, the talented Sky Draper continued her superb season by winning the opening stage of the national road relay at Sutton Coldfield on Sunday. Her time of 13.41 was almost a minute quicker than anyone else's.

Harrow's under 13 squad finished 19th. Janakan Rajkumar was Harrow's best runner and the club finished 50th in the under 15 race.

Harrow's senior squad placed a solid 27th in the National Six Stage Road Relay held at the same venue on Saturday - 11 places better than last year.

Matt Addison was below par on the opening leg, clocking 18.47 for the undulating 5,500m Sutton Park circuit.

Adam Bowden stormed through the field to 22nd spot with a brisk 17.25. Ben Warren recorded 18.52 before Peter Norris gained three places with his personal best of 18.48.
