Chelsea have the best FA Cup record of the last 25 years, statistics suggest.

The Trinity Mirror Data Unit have taken the round each side reached over the last 25 seasons and awarded zero points for the third round, one for the fourth, two for the fifth, three for the quarter finals, four for the semis, five for the runners up and six for the winners.

Chelsea have an average 3.2 of points, more than any other side, and equivalent to reaching the quarter finals every year.

The Blues have won the FA Cup six times over the past 25 years, as well as being beaten in the final twice and the semi finals three times.

Fulham boss Kit Symons said this week that he believes his side could be the FA Cup's surprise package.

Their score based on our points system is 1.1, which is the equivalent of reaching the fourth round.

Harry Redknapp's QPR also make the same stage on average but they have a lower points total of 0.6 while Brentford scored 0.3 - the equivalent of the third round.

Closest to Chelsea are Manchester United, five times winners, three times runners-up, with 3.1 - also a quarter final average.

Arsenal are the only other side to average the quarter finals, with an average of three points, on the back of six FA Cup trophies and one season as runners-up.

With an average of exactly two points, Liverpool, who travel to AFC Wimbledon on Monday night, average the fifth round, as do Tottenham (1.9), Everton, (1.8), Manchester City (1.7), QPR's opponents this weekend, Sheffield United, (1.5) and Newcastle (1.5).
