Adam Forshaw has shrugged off speculation about his future and insists he's fully committed to Brentford.

The 22-year-old midfielder is regarded as one of the hottest prospects in League One after scoring six goals in 25 games for the Bees this campaign.

Forshaw's absence in Saturday's win against Port Vale raised a few eyebrows among fans, although manager Mark Warburton later confirmed the youngster is struggling with a calf problem.

However, the former Everton trainee, who only signed a new long-term deal in the summer, insists he has no intentions of leaving the club this month.

He said: “I try not to listen to the speculation. I learned a lot last year to all sides of the game and just want to concentrate on my football.

“My aim is to get promoted with Brentford. I’m really enjoying it here, as are all the other lads who signed new contracts like Jake Bidwell and Harlee [Dean].

“I feel I’m gaining a lot of experience playing regularly. Last year was a massive learning curve for me.”

Brentford tightened their grip at the top of the table with a comfortable 2-0 victory against the Valiants at the weekend to extend their winning streak to eight games.

However, Forshaw insists the League One leaders aren't getting carried away with their remarkable run of form.

He added: “We’re only halfway through the season. We’ve got to keep doing what we’re doing and try and take this momentum forward. We can’t get too carried away because there’s a long way to go.”
