Northwood further strengthened their play-off hopes in the Ryman League Division One North last night (Tuesday 3/3) with a 1-0 victory at rivals Waltham Abbey.
Recent signing Gary Burrell was the hero netting in the 90th minute to claim three vital points as fourth placed Woods opened up a four point gap over Waltham.
Both sides struggled in the wet and windy condiions and a draw looked the likely outcome until Burrell, who signed from Tilbury last month, pounced on a loose ball in the box and fired home in the final stages of the match for his first goal for the club.
