PREMIER DIVISION: Harefield United 1 Kingsbury London Tigers 0

Adam Willis scored with the last kick of the game to give leaders Harefield United a priceless 1-0 win over fourth-placed Kingsbury London Tigers.

The goal took the Hares 13 points clear at the top with 10 games to play after nearest challengers Broxbourne Borough suffered a shock defeat at home to lowly Brimsdown Rovers

The race for the league title looks to have been reduced to a two-horse sprint with Harefield way out in front at the moment although Chalfont St Peter, who reached the FA Vase Semi-final at the weekend, can still go above them but only if they win at least five, if not all six of their games in hand.

That would be some feat giventhat Chalfont still have 16 league games and three cup ties to fit into the last 47 days of the league season.

Until then Harefield must grind out the results any way they can and that is becoming ever more difficult as teams, like Kingsbury last Saturday, come to Preston Park and get men behind the ball.

The result was a tight game in which the best chances fell to the hosts but they struggled to make them count.

On 15 minutes Joe Kelly came in off the right and drove the ball across the face of the goal, Denver Morris linked with Paul Haynes but the latter hit the side netting and Murray Williamson put a clear header just over the bar.

At the other end Charlie Miller kept out Edson Cato's fine drive but it was his opposite number Michel Power-Simpson who was the busier man, denying the Hares on a number of occasions as Murray Williamson and Jamie Houliston controlled the game and drove the hosts forward.

In the second half Williamson saw a shot saved and Gary Williams outjumped the visiting defenders to reach an Adam Willis corner but his header hit the bar, and as the game wore on both defences continued to come out on top.

On came Ben Cowen for Tom Kirk, Alex Brown for Houliston and Chris Drake for Haynes and the Hares renewed their assault.

Two minutes into injury time Cowen swung in a corner and the Kingsbury defence could only clear to Adam Willis on the edge of the area.

He calmly chipped the keeper for his 11th and arguably most important goal of the campaign to spark wild celebrations, especially when the whistle blew as soon as the game restarted.
