Hayes and Yeading United moved a step closer to the Blue Square Conference South play-offs with a 2-1 win at Weston-super-Mare on Saturday (28/3) - their eighth consecutive league victory.

Injury ravaged Weston went ahead on 29 minutes when debutant defender Tom Evans hooked the ball home following a free kick.

United got back on level terms after 47 minutes when Staforde Palmer's cross was caught by the wind and sailed over the head of Weston 'keeper Ryan Northmore.

Four minutes later H&Y were ahead when they were awarded a penalty after a handball following a scramble in the Weston area.

With normal penalty taker Josh Scott suspended, Will Hendry stepped up and saw his spot kick saved by Northmore.

However, Palmer reacted to the rebound and his effort was deflected home by Scott Fitzgerald to secure the three points for Garry Haylock's side and move them closer to a end of season play-off birth.
