HAYES & Yeading United quite literally handed AFC Wimbledon victory at Kingsmeadow last night (Tuesday 10/2) with two of the most gift-wrapped goals the Conference South league leaders will ever receive.

In the 14th minute Aaron Howe merely had to collect a bouncing ball to mop up a Wimbledon attack but it was so simple he must have taken his eye off it as the keeper spilled it straight back into the path of John Main, who could not miss.

Four minutes from half-time after Josh Scott’s error put United under pressure, they seemed to have survived another good set piece by the hosts when Steve Perkins spun around and with his hand shovelled the ball away from his own goal to concede a penalty, allowing Main to net his 28th goal of the season.

Howe reacted quickly to deny Danny Kedwell soon after the break but even as the hosts sat back United never looked like troubling them, until the final 10 minutes when Scott slid in Omari Coleman, but he shot straight at James Pullen to end a desperately disappointing night.
