DIVISION ONE SOUTH AND WEST: Bishops Cleeve 2 AFC Hayes 2

The AFC Hayes revival continued at Bishops Cleeve as Joe Mitchell's side made it seven points from nine.

However, it should have been nine from nine after the visitors stormed into a 2-0 lead inside 20 minutes although after Bishops hit back Hayes were the ones hanging on at the death.

Hayes, who started the day two points clear of their hosts following their wins over Burnham and Slough, ended it four points and four places above the relegation zone.

Dean Papali set Hayes on the way in only the sixth minute when he capitalised on a mistake by a defender and easily beat the keeper to notch his sixth goal in three games.

He might have added another soon after when he went clear again only to shoot wide and Dean Clark almost stunned an already shell-shocked home side when he tried his luck from the halfway line, beating the keeper but his effort was just off-target.

Papali was denied by the keeper but from the corner Nick Turner spun well to net his first goal for the club and make it 2-0.

Papali missed another excellent chance before the break and it proved costly as Hayes, playing into the wind, found themselves under a long ball barrage.

Former Cheltenham striker Julian Allsop caused all sorts of problems and when he put Lee Davis through to pull a goal back the game was back in the balance with half an hour remaining.

The visitors had their backs to the wall and their goal led a charmed life until from a corner Allsop forced the ball over the line to level the scores.

Bishops created a couple more chances and Dean Thornton made some vital stops before Hayes fashioned one last opportunity but could not make it count.
