Rumours have linked Chelsea to a move for Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Alex Teixeira this transfer window as the Blues look to rescue what is left of their season.

Here we answer your questions about the Blues’ top target this winter.

Key strengths

Concentration: Alex Teixeira of Shakhtar Donetsk in action

Teixeira is a versatile player who can be utilised as a striker as well as across the midfield.

An attacking midfielder by trade, the 26-year-old has scored 26 goals in 25 games for his side this season, but can also be played in a more withdrawn role.

The uncapped Brazilian is comfortable with both feet and is a strong and quick dribbler, which could make him a good fit at Stamford Bridge.

Brazilian connection: Willian is one of a number of Chelsea's Samba stars

Rumours linking Teixeira to Chelsea have been circulating for months due his close friendship with Blues duo and countrymen Oscar and Willian.

The Brazilian is likely to cost the Roman Abramovich in excess of £30m, but the owner looks likely to dip into his pocket to try and change his club's fortunes this January.

The signing could also pave the way for an Eden Hazard exit in the summer, as the Belgian has been linked to a big-money move to the Bernabeu.

European record

On the ball: Alex Teixeira in Champions League action

Despite netting 19 times in the Ukrainian Premier League this season, Blues fans will be more excited about his three goals in an ill-fated Champions League bid.

In a group containing PSG and Real Madrid, the haul can be considered one of Shakhtar's only successes in this season's competition and the 26-year-old's European performances have put him top of the wish-list for many high-quality sides.
