Brentford could be in line for a financial windfall if Burnley cash in on Andre Gray this summer.

Tottenham and Everton have both been linked with the Clarets striker and the Bees have a sell on clause in the region of 20 per cent.

Gray is out of contract at Turf Moor and, rather than risk seeing him leave for nothing, Sean Dyche could cash in on his 10-goal hotshot and sell this summer.

Spurs and the Toffees were both touted as possible destinations given the form of Lilywhites striker Vincent Janssen, while Romelu Lukaku could leave Goodison Park this summer.

But what would those players be getting in a player like Gray?

The former Brentford striker loves to play with his back to goal alongside the last defender and use his strength to turn and get past him.

His acceleration is one of his defining attributes and he is able to create the shooting opportunities for himself and you'd back him to score on most occasions.

What's most impressive about him is his work rate. He will give centre backs a battle for 90 minutes and if they let him slip just once he has the ability to punish opponents.

There are, of course, comparisons between him and Jamie Vardy given their respective careers and, after a difficult start to his time as a footballer, Gray has taken any opportunity that has come to him.

He's a player that has had to work for what he has and knows, full well, that he's in a privileged position.

Gray can work as a lone frontman as well as with a partner. He shone at Griffin Park as the lone frontman with former Spurs youngster Alex Pritchard and Jota supplying a good number of his goals.

While he has shown at Burnley that he can do the job with a partner such as Sam Vokes.

Is Gray likely to usurp Harry Kane or Romelu Lukaku as Tottenham or Everton's main striker? It's doubtful but he's more than capable of filling in for them at Wembley or Goodison Park.

Both teams need a player who can do that. Gray certainly has the ability to provide strong competition and an alternative at both clubs.
