The transfer window opens on Saturday (July 1) and Brentford will be free to sign players up until August 31.
But the Bees are unlikely to be big movers through the transfer window, given the options they already have in their squad.
If the 2015/16 season can be described as a year of revolution, the past 12 months have been one of evolution and the upcoming season will be, as Rasmus Ankersen said, about execution.
There is no doubt in my mind that Brentford already have the nucleus of a squad that can mount a promotion push this season.
With the right extra ingredients, the dream of facing off against the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool could become a reality in 12 months time.
With the transfer window opening, GetWestLondon has gone through the Brentford squad position by position and given our expectations for each department based on our conversations with club staff.
Injuries or player sales will, of course, dictate what the west Londoners can do over the summer and this assessment is on the squad as it is now.
Goalkeepers
Options: Dan Bentley and Luke Daniels
Expectations: I'm not anticipating any activity in this area.
Right Backs
Options: Maxime Colin, Henrik Dalsgaard and Josh Clarke
Expectations: The only potential move I can see is Maxime Colin leaving the club. Nothing has come up at this current juncture. The Bees will not be shopping in this area.
Left Backs
Options: Rico Henry and Tom Field
Expectations: I can't see Brentford making a meaningful move in the market at this time.
Centre Backs
Options: Harlee Dean, John Egan, Yoann Barbet and Andreas Bjelland
Expectations: There may be movement in this area but only if players leave. With Dean and Bjelland coming into the final years of their contracts, the pair may both depart if the club decide to avoid them leaving for nothing. If one or both were to leave then the Bees will look to replace them or promote someone like Chris Mepham from the B team.
Midfielders
Options: Ryan Woods, Josh McEachran, Romaine Sawyers, Alan Judge, Lewis Macleod and Nico Yennaris
Expectations: Alan McCormack and Konstantin Kerschbaumer's departures leave a void for a tough tackling midfielder so the club may consider recruitments in this department. With Judge and Macleod unavailable at the start of the season the Bees are limited in options in this area and another face may well be required.
Wingers
Options: Florian Jozefzoon, Jota and Sergi Canos
Expectations: If the Bees want to have two players competing in every position, as Rasmus Ankersen indicated when speaking to GetWestLondon, then one more player would be needed to add strength in this area. However, both Dalsgaard and Clarke can play in the role as could Alan Judge when he returns from injury. Of course, Jota has been linked with a move away from Griffin Park and, were he to leave, a replacement would be signed.
Strikers
Options: Lasse Vibe and Justin Shaibu
Expectations: One striker will come in through the Griffin Park gates during this window to provide competition for Lasse Vibe. Shaibu will be handed a chance in pre-season to earn a spot in the senior squad but the young Dane is still raw. The club have made signing a frontman the priority. That's not to say a player in a different position will join first though.
