According to reports in the national press, Fulham are eyeing up a late transfer window swoop for Sheffield Wednesday frontman Fernando Forestieri.

The ex Watford man has been one of the Championship's best players for the past two seasons, but the Owls have twice missed out on promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs.

Forestieri scored 15 goals during the 2015/16 campaign and then added another 12 last season.

The Sun on Sunday are reporting this morning that the Cottagers are lining up a £12 million swoop for the Italian forward in an attempt to conclude a quick deal.

The 27-year-old is reported to have fallen out with a number of people at Hillsborough but the Owls are holding out for a bigger transfer fee for the coveted frontman.

Fulham got their season up and running with a 2-0 win away at previously unbeaten Ipswich Town on Saturday. The Owls have had a similarly difficult start to the 2017/18 campaign, winning just once.
