QPR are close to agreeing a six-figure fee for Linfield man Paul Smythe, according to the Belfast Telegraph.

The 19-year-old has been the subject of much interest from England, with the Hoops and Reading both expressing an interest in the Northern Ireland under-21 international.

It’s thought that any deal would include clauses such as international appearance fees, plus a sell-on fee.

It’s thought that Linfield will not stand in Smythe’s way, as long as QPR’s bid meets the valuation set by Linfield.

The winger was subject of a £55,000 bid from Crawley Town, a bid described by the club as "derisory".

Speaking of the move, Linfield chairman Roy McGivern said: "Talks are ongoing and there is strong interest in the player. We will see what happens. The transfer window is open and a move may happen.

"It's never a done deal until it's over the line but we recognise Paul is a fantastic talent and we will not stand in his way. At the moment we expect Paul to play against Ballymena United on Saturday and we will see how things progress over the week."
