Recently released QPR midfielder Karl Henry has been linked with a move to Championship outfit Barnsley.

According to footballleagueworld.co.uk, manager Paul Heckingbottom is looking to strengthen his side after guiding his team to safety with games to spare last season.

The 34-year-old midfielder was released by QPR boss Ian Holloway last week, and is a player likely to be on the radar of numerous Championship clubs due to his experience and ability to control a game.

It is thought Henry would be brought in to add some muscle to a midfield that is otherwise lacking.

After his departure from Loftus Road was announced, Henry had some complimentary words for the club on Twitter, saying: "QPR is a special football club and i feel privileged to have represented you. I've been fortunate enough to play under a number of excellent QPR managers and coaches and alongside some outstanding footballers. More importantly, I've had the pleasure of working with genuinely nice people on a daily basis."
