Transfer deadline day has been and gone.

You can already hear the fax machines shutting down until January after clubs splashed the cash in their last chance to make sales and purchases before the window shuts.

Teams had until 11pm on August 31 to get their final buys through the door as they prepare for the long season ahead.

It was a busy day across the Premier League and Football League as well as across Europe as last-minute deals are signed and sealed.

QPR and Fulham left it late before making signings while Chelsea spent big in an attempt to reinforce their squad for a title tilt under Antonio Conte.

Brentford wanted a couple of new faces too and AFC Wimbledon and Barnet could get in on the action with some new arrivals in the closing stages of the window.

So sit back, relax, keep this window open and stick with us all day and you won’t miss a thing as the clock ticks down to the deadline.

Fulham loan one out

Fulham defender Jack Grimmer has joined League One side Shrewsbury Town on loan for the season.

He has previously enjoyed two loan spells at New Meadow, making seven appearances in 2014/15, and 24 last term.

The highlight of his previous stint with the Shrews was when he popped up in the 90th minute to secure a 3-2 win over Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup back in January.

Grimmer could make his third debut for the club on Saturday at Oldham Athletic, where he may come up against a familiar face in fellow Whites loanee Cameron Burgess.

A deal at Fulham

Fulham have completed the signing of Lucas Piazon on loan from Chelsea until January 2017.

The Brazilian attacker has been with the Blues since 2011, winning the FA Youth Cup and was named the club’s young player of the year.

He featured in first-team games in the 2012/13 season and missed a penalty in the 8-0 win over Aston Villa.

He then moved on loan to Malaga and sampled Champions League football for the first time.

Piazon then joined Vitesse Arnhem, for whom he scored 11 times as they finished sixth in the Eredivisie, while he helped Eintracht Frankfurt to ninth in the Bundesliga in 2014/15.

Piazon’s first taste of Championship football arrived last season as he featured 27 times for Reading, scoring five goals, one of which came in their 4-2 defeat at Craven Cottage.

The 22-year-old is a Brazil youth international, and has been capped up to Under-23 level.

Could we have a late twist at Fulham?

It’s doubtful a deal will be done as markets can fluctuate but one to keep half an eye on certainly

  • Share

Can deals be done after 11pm?

The answer is yes. As long as a deal sheet is in place with the league clubs have a two-hour window to get the deal over the line and log everything with the respective governing bodies.

Local boy moves to Aston Villa

Albert Adomah has completed a move from Middlesbrough to Aston Villa.

The humble winger, who started out playing for Chiswick-based amateur side Old Meadonians and Ryman Premier outfit Harrow Borough before getting his big break as a pro with Barnet, insists he has never forgotten his roots.

Indeed, when Adomah made his international debut for Ghana four years ago, one of the first calls he made was to his old pals at Old Meadonians, who play at the pitches Riverside Lands, next to the Thames in W4.

Adomah told us in 2015: “I always remember my old friends, from Old Meadonians to Harrow Borough and Barnet. I try to keep in touch and look out for their results. That is where I came from, and I will always be thankful to them.

“Playing for Old Meadonians especially helped me in my early days. I was a young boy playing against much older men, and it helped toughen me up. I know those guys have come to watch me when they can too, and I really appreciate it.”

It looks like a case of Chelsea and Juventus sharing the reported £90k-a-week wages pocketed by Juan Cuadrado - at least until they can sell him.

The winger has returned to Serie A on loan until June 2019 for an annual fee of 5million euros (£4.25m), with the option for the deal to be made permanent for 25m euros (£21.25m).

The 28-year-old spent last season on loan with the Turin side.

The terms of the deal take Cuadrado to the end of the four-and-a-half-year contract he signed on joining Chelsea in February 2015.

Chris Martin set to join Fulham from Coldplay - sorry, make that Derby

Fulham appear to be a medical away from landing Chris Martin as he makes the switch from Derby.

The battering Rams striker is understood to be undergoing a medical near the Derby training ground to make sure the deal goes through ahead of the 11pm deadline.

Head coach Slavisa Jokanovic insisted he wanted an extra striker - and it looks as if he’s got one currently in his side’s first team.

Martin has 142 league appearances for Derby under his belt and 53 goals, and has featured in all five Derby Championship matches this season.
