Thibaut Courtois wouldn’t blame Petr Cech for leaving Chelsea in the January transfer window.

The big Belgian has dislodged Cech as Blues number one this season after returning from his loan stint at Atletico Madrid.

Cech still has plenty to offer at the top level and Courtois says he would be asking to leave Stamford Bridge if roles were reversed.

Happy days: Courtois is pleased he's getting games

“As a goalkeeper you want to play,”  Courtois told Sky Sports News HQ.

“If I was in that situation where I didn’t play a lot, then I would leave too.

“I think Petr is still a goalkeeper with a lot of quality and one of the best there is."

Reduced role: Cech

Jose Mourinho has picked Cech for Chelsea’s Capital One Cup campaign this season and has been restricted to a couple of appearances in the Champions League.

Courtois has been the Special One’s man between the sticks in the Premier League as the Blues have gone unbeaten so far and top the the table.

“Obviously a lot of people hope that we can go unbeaten, we will see,” Courtois added.

Special One: Jose Mourinho has made Courtois first-choice

“The Premier League is a very hard competition, so I think that’s maybe why just one team did it, but I think it will be hard.

“It’s more important to be champions, and if it is unbeaten then okay.”

Courtois is away on international duty with Belgium as they prepare to face Wales.
