Fulham Football Club is 'not a train station' as Slavisa Jokanovic blasted Chris Martin for his refusal to play at Reading.

The Derby loanee downed tools to try and force a move back to his parent club Derby County by going on strike and refusing to play for the Whites.

The Serbian confirmed that his absence had nothing to do with injury and the forward was going to remain at Craven Cottage.

The Whites boss stated he had no intention of strengthening a Derby side that have won eight of their last nine games and sit three points above Fulham in the table.

The Fulham boss said: “He stopped in training, but I have information from medical staff that he is available to play. He decided to take a day off.

“We need to check this situation but I don’t have any intention of making our rivals any stronger. I am not going to send him back to Derby, he is going to stay with us, and he is going to respect the contract.”

Jokanovic confirmed that whilst his status in Fulham’s first team plans is now open to interpretation, he will not be returning to the iPro Stadium earlier than his anticipated date after the season’s climax.

He added: “We are not a train station, you can’t come in and out when you want. We need to respect ourselves, and I don’t know if he’s going to play for Fulham, but he’s not going to play for Derby.”

Martin skipping the game meant nothing as the game at Reading was abandoned.
