Romaine Sawyers has completed his move to Brentford on free transfer from Walsall.

The attacking midfielder has agreed a four year deal with the Bees and takes part in the first day of pre-season training.

Sawyers started his career at West Bromwich Albion and spent time at Port Vale and Shrewsbury on loan.

He then joined Walsall on loan in 2013, which then became permanent and he worked with Dean Smith until the manager took over at Griffin Park and they have now linked up again in west London.

Below are five facts about the new Brentford man.

International star

Sawyers plays international football for Saint Kitts and Nevis. He has won 18 caps and scored four goals in international football.

The Caribbean island are in the qualifying phase for next year's Caribbean Cup. They have reached the third round stage and will take on Haiti and French Guiana for the chance to progress to the tournament itself.

Former Bee Calum Willock made three appearances for Saint Kitts and Nevis during his career.

Basketball

Romaine Sawyers is on Twitter and has regularly tweeted about NBA basketball. He is a fan of Oklahoma City Thunder team who were pipped by eventual runners up, Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference Finals.

Difficult Start

Sawyers made his first league appearance for Port Vale in a 1-0 defeat to Cheltenham, coming off the bench.

That was the only appearance he made during his month with the Valiants and he had better luck a year later with Shrewsbury, making seven appearances in the second half of the 2011/12 season.

He joined Walsall in March 2013 and his four substitute appearances convinced Smith to sign him permanently.

Team of the Year

Sawyers was one of the stand-out players in League One last season and he was nominated for the PFA player of the year award before missing out to Bradley Dack.

He was selected in the League One team of the year alongside Saddlers team-mate Rico Henry.

Walsall, though, were beaten by Barnsley in the play-off semi finals as the Tykes went on to triumph at Wembley.

The Roofe

During Sawyers' time at West Brom he was in the same team as Kemar Roofe, a player who has attracted interest from Brentford although the Bees have been put off by his price tag.

The talented forward scored 18 League Two goals as Oxford won promotion last season. He also scored the goal of the game as United crushed Brentford in the Capital One Cup.
