Riyad Mahrez has been snapped checking into what appears to be Chelsea’s team hotel to fuel speculation the Blues could make a stunning transfer swoop.
The Leicester City star was spotted at the Chelsea Harbour Hotel, which is frequented by the Premier League side, yesterday by an Italian journalist in west London.
Alessandro Schiavone was visiting the venue to interview new Blues head coach Antonio Conte when he noticed the Foxes player in the foyer with luggage.
Mahrez was voted PFA Player of the Year last season as he helped Claudio Ranieri’s side to clinch the most unlikely of title successes.
He has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal but Chelsea have also been touted as a possible destination for the Algerian.
Journalist Schiavone did not speak with Mahrez at the hotel but claimed a man purporting to be his agent informed him that Conte’s side were interested in signing him.
There is no evidence Conte and Mahrez actually met despite both being in the same building a the same time.
Leicester do not wish to sell Mahrez but the champions have already seen N’Golo Kante tempted by the lure of the Londoners in a £30million deal.
"I speak often with him and say stay with us, it's much better for your future, I think he is an intelligent man and he will stay," Foxes manager Ranieri said.
"We support him very well, this is important, when you change teams maybe you don't find team-mates who help you at the same level.
"He improves more if he stays with us for another year, maybe next year he can think about another solution.
“If he goes for a lot of money, everybody will be expecting something special. He can do something special, but with us."
Leicester chief Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha posted a message on Instagram last week reiterating the club’s stance that their prize asset is not for sale.
