According to reports in France, Brentford have struck a deal to sign striker Neal Maupay.

The young French forward is not exactly what you would call a household name, but is highly-regarded across the Channel.

He was sent out on loan by Saint-Etienne last season and scored 11 goals for Ligue 2 side Stade Brest, helping them to a fifth-place finish.

There were reports earlier this week that the Bees were tracking the youngster's progress , and leading French publication l'Equipe are now reporting that Saint-Etienne and Brentford have reach agreed a fee for his transfer to the Championship club.

The deal is believed to be in the region of 2 million euros.

The 20-year-old can play as an attacking midfielder or anywhere across a front three. He has represented France at U16, U17, U19 and at U21 level but is also eligible to play for Argentina, due to holding citizenship through his mother.
