QPR want to rescue Chelsea defender from Middlesbrough loan as Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink contacts former club

Hoops manager pondering a raid on the Bridge for Czech Republic defender

Wanted man: Tomas Kalas is on loan at Boro from Chelsea

QPR manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is considering a winter loan swoop for Chelsea defender Tomas Kalas.

The Czech Republic international is on loan at Middlesbrough again this term but has fallen behind Emiliano Nsue in the pecking order on Teesside.

Blues youngster Kalas, who can play at right-back and centre-back, was a huge hit on Teesside in a four-month loan spell at the end of last term.

He stayed on at Boro after his loan expired to train with the team and support them from the stands in the Championship play-offs, and had assured Boro chiefs he wanted to come back this term.

A deal was quickly agreed with Chelsea to keep Kalas on until May 2016 but Hoops boss Hasselbaink is understood to have spoken to his old club about taking him for the second half of the campaign.
