Steve Sidwell has ended speculation about his future after signing a two-year deal with Stoke City.

The midfielder confirmed he was leaving Fulham last week following relegation from the Premier League.

Sidwell has been linked with a string of clubs, with QPR, West Brom, Hull and Southampton among those scrambling for his signature.

However, the 31-year-old has opted to rejoin Mark Hughes, who signed him for Fulham back in 2011, at the Britannia Stadium.

Stoke chief executive Tony Scholes said: "Steve was much in demand following his release by Fulham and we are delighted to have won the race to secure his signature.

"Mark Hughes signed him for Fulham and from talking to Steve I know how much he's looking forward to working with him again."
