QPR are lining up a £1m bid for highly-rated Connor Goldson at Shrewsbury Town.

The 22-year-old is the fall back in Rs quest for a centre half, should the bid for Tim Ream at Bolton go south.

The USA international is also wanted by neighbours Fulham, who Wanderers insiders say have trumped Rs £1.75m on the table bid with a £250k add-on.

Head: Connor Goldson scores for Shrewsbury

Town insisted a hamstring injury kept Goldson out of last night’s 2-1 home defeat to Chesterfield, even though Shrews boss Micky Mellon claimed on Monday everyone was fully fit.

“I’m not going to get involved in it (talk about a QPR bid). He’s got a hamstring injury - that’s the extent of it and he reported that to us late on Monday,” he added.

Double bid: Tim Ream (R)

Swindon had a derisory £100,000 bid rejected for Goldson last month, after Leeds also enquired about him.

But Town’s valuation is well within QPR scope bearing in mind the £1.25m bid for Southend keeper Daniel Bentley - and rejected.

Rangers have only Nedum Onuoha and Clint Hill to cover the two central positions with rookie Cole Kpekawa deemed to young to hold down a permanent berth, by Rs head coach Chris Ramsey.
