Swansea plan to offer a new deal to Ashley Williams to fend off interest from QPR and Hull City.

The Swans skipper is approaching the final 12 months of his contract at the Liberty Stadium and could be available for a cut-priced £4million fee.

Rangers boss Harry Redknapp is keen to bolster his squad following promotion from the Championship, while Premier League rivals Hull are also monitoring the defender's situation closely.

However, Swansea have responded by starting negotiations to extend the Wales international's time at the club.

"We're in negotiations with his representatives and trying to put a deal across so that Ash will be here for the future of the club," manager Gary Monk told the South Wales Evening Post.

"I know Ash wants that, I want that, the club wants that and that's what we're working towards as we speak."
